SOUTHWESTERN FAMILIES: Please read the attached letter from Superintendent Kevelin Jones regarding an incident at Southwestern Classical Academy today. As always, the safety and well-being of our scholars, staff, and school community is our highest priority.
This morning, we took immediate safety measures out of an abundance of caution, and we activated our evacuation protocols to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
We are grateful for the quick response of our team and first responders. All students and staff are safe; a detailed letter has been sent home with students and is also attached here for your reference.
Final preparations are underway for the Class of 2025 Commencement Ceremony this evening. Graduates received their cap and gown this morning at rehearsal. Next up, turning the tassel! #FCS #ClassOf2025 #FutureLeaders

This morning, a concerning note was discovered on campus. In response, we immediately initiated safety protocols, which included evacuating the building to ensure the well-being of our students and staff.
Our scholars were safely transported to our designated evacuation site at a nearby church while law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation. We are grateful to the Flint Police Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department for their swift response and support.
After approximately three hours, the building was given the all-clear and deemed safe for re-entry. We want to reassure you that the safety of our scholars and staff remains our highest priority, and we will continue to act with urgency and care in all matters of school safety.

Free sports physicals are scheduled to take place on May 30th from 1-5 pm. These will be held at Holmes in their family engagement room. You must reserve a time slot through the Signup Genius and complete both forms in order to receive the physical. Please see the school coaching staff, main office, or nurse for assistance with receiving the forms to get completed. This is an opportunity to be prepared for the upcoming sports seasons!
