1095-C Requests
The IRS is no longer requiring 1095-C forms to be filed with an employee’s taxes, this form will only be available upon request.
If an employee requests a physical copy of their 1095-C, they can contact MESSA, and one will be provided. This form is also available under their Employee File on the online benefits website, which is accessible by the employee and by anyone with administration credentials.

The employer must provide the statement to the responsible individual who requested it within 30 days of the date the request is received; to satisfy this requirement, the employer may provide the statement electronically if the recipient affirmatively consents.

Family and Medical Leave Act
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year, with continued group health benefits.
FMLA helps employees manage work and family needs for reasons such as:
Birth and care of a newborn
Adoption or foster care placement
Caring for a spouse, child, or parent with a serious health condition
Personal serious health conditions that prevent work
FMLA applies to public agencies, all schools, and private employers with 50+ employees. To qualify, employees must have worked at least 12 months and 1,250 hours, and be at a worksite with 50+ employees within 75 miles.

The Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS) administers a Defined Benefit Plan, two hybrid plans, and a Defined Contribution Plan for public school employees. ORS also administers two retiree healthcare plans: the premium subsidy benefit and the Personal Healthcare Fund.
